1. Wearing gloves, remove and discard metal tie holding setting arm.
2. Position the cage trap on a flat surface wherever evidence of rats or other nuisance animals is seen
3. To set, push in thumb plate on door and lift open using handle at bottom.
4. Carefully position setting arm hook into loop on door using setting arm handle on top of cage. Once the trap is properly set the setting arm will be in a perpendicular position and bottom of it will rest adjacent to the treadle
5. Reach into the cage trap and place bait on the bait well at the centre of the treadle see bait recommendation below, its recommended using The Big Cheese Fresh 'n Tasty Mouse and Rat Attractant (STV163)
6. Captured animals can be safely transported by lifting the cage using the carrier handle

What should I use to bait the trap?

The Mouse & Rat Attractant from The Big Cheese (STV163) can be used or a sticky substance such as peanut butter, jam, or chocolate spread. Poison baits should not be used inside this trap. 

Where should I position the trap?

Place set traps in locations where rodent activity has been known or is suspected. Check for these signs of rodent activity. Ideal locations for traps are along walls or other flat vertical surfaces where rodents run. Always place the cage trap alongside a wall. 

How should I dispose of caught rats?

The rat must be killed humanely by a quick, sharp blow to the back of the head with a blunt object, causing a minimum amount of suffering.
